She says, “I look forward to my time at Humble Heart because I feel honored to spend it in such a wholesome, healthy, and calming place. I feel aligned with Lauren’s creative vision of the homestead and her mission to be low-waste, regenerative, sustainable, and ecologically diverse. The planning of this place has been done with such mindfulness– and that’s the theme I feel when I’m there.”

The Ducks
Our flock of heritage breed ducks will greet you upon arrival with their sweet and social quacks! In addition to their adorable antics, the ducks are great foragers, helping us keep our ecosystem balanced and their manure feeds our soil with the beautiful compost it helps us create.
-

Otis and the Hens
You’ll wake to the crow of Otis, our rooster, who gently watches over our heritage breed hens. Our beautiful eggs come from these pasture raised, rotationally grazed birds who fertilize our soil, hunt for ticks and grubs, and are always happily waiting for a handful of sunflower seeds!
-

The Rabbits
A colony of Rex rabbits are the newest members of the homestead. These beautiful and docile beings provide “bunny gold” adding incredible fertility to our soil and are a sustainable source of meat and fur. Our rabbits live in social groups called colonies where they have the dignity of expressing their natural instincts like burrowing, grooming each other, and choosing when to breed.
